Cat Tales Rescue Adoption Event

  • Western Wake Farmers Market at the Morrisville Healthy Food Hub (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Rounding out the fall of 2024 after falling for just about every animal brought to the market by the many amazing organizations we’ve hosted the past few months, Cat Tales Rescue NC takes WWFM 9:30-11am!

Cat Tales Rescue NC is a new nonprofit organization formed by a group of passionate and highly experienced cat rescuers brought together by their common goals and aligned rescue values. While this organization is new, it is built upon over FOUR decades of combined cat rescue experience, which includes medical fostering, foster and adoption counseling, TNVR, neonatal care, behavioral advice and much, much more. We provide the fantastic felines for Cat Tales Cat Cafe which has been open for more than 5 years!

Our unwavering mission is to proactively and strategically use our experience and resources to lower the euthanasia rate of healthy cats in North Carolina. Our programs include: preventing litters, facilitating adoptions, TNVR and supporting community cat caretakers, diverting cats from the shelter system, and matching and supporting senior pets with senior citizens.

Turtle Pants Farm and Rainbow Rescue & Retreat Adoption Event

  • Western Wake Farmers Market at the Morrisville Healthy Food Hub (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

It’s double trouble this weekend at WWFM 🐶 thanks to the superpowers of pet shelter whisperer Lisa, we were able to schedule TWO amazing sanctuaries for adoption events 9:30-12pm - Turtle Pants Farm and Rainbow Rescue & Retreat!

Turtle Pants Farm is a small family farm and non profit in rural Chatham County, North Carolina. The farm operates as an all species rescue and sanctuary taking in, vetting, rehabilitating, and re-homing animals of various species and backgrounds ranging from cats and chickens to donkeys and cows. Our belief is that all animals deserve a caring, loving forever home. Our long term goal is to educate the public on proper care, feeding, and vetting of all species animals.

Rainbow Rescue & Retreat is a woman and queer-owned, volunteer-run non-profit organization that has created a unique space as an all species animal sanctuary & LGBTQ+ retreat in North Carolina. Our primary focus right now is providing sanctuary and rehabilitation for the voiceless. As of July 2024, we were forced to close the rescue portion of our organization indefinitely due to lack of community support. Upon the completion of our sanctuary, RRR hopes to be able to expand our rescue mission to a full facility with domestic, some exotic, and farm animals as well as be able to host retreats for the LGBTQ+ community and their allies with a combination of animal, nature, music, yogic and spiritual experiences.

Doggies in Bloom at the Farmers Market

  • Western Wake Farmers Market at the Morrisville Healthy Food Hub (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Can I interest you in another opportunity to play with dogs on the lawn at WWFM? We will be hosting Freedom Ride Rescue during regular market hours, who will be bringing plenty of pupperinos ready for adoption 🐕

Freedom Ride Rescue brings together individuals who share a love for dogs and a dream to see a no-kill state. Our foster-based network brings in dogs of all ages, sizes and breed mixes. We help to rehabilitate these animals – providing security, love, medical, and behavioral training as needed – until they can be adopted to their “fur-ever” homes.

Co-founded by Mollie Doll and Larry Hughes, the first freedom ride for our rescue was Rider, from Granville County Animal Shelter. Mollie and Larry envisioned a tiny, boutique rescue saving around 50 dogs a year on that first shelter “pull” back in August 2019. The support and incredible passion in the rescue community quickly illustrated there would be WAY more freedom ride than originally anticipated. On our third anniversary, we have saved nearly 1900 dogs (and eight cats).
